Dear all,
First of all I'd like to wish all developers/maintainers and users a happy new year and all the best.
I know I am quite late with this topic, but other things distracted me so-far: I'd like to finally upgrade our cluster to 11.0.
According to the upgrade instructions (https://docs.qlustar.com/en-US/Qlustar_Cluster_OS/11.0/html-single/Release_N...) it is more or less an apt distupgrade; but since there are a lot of changes and I have very bad experience trying to upgrade merely ubuntu-versions (which usually breaks), I can't believe it is so simple?
So I'd like to ask whether it is really as simple and what your experiences are? Any caveats, things to keep in mind? Can I do it while calculations are running or should I rather wait for all of them to finish (we have run-times of months, therefore this is a thing in my case).
Any advice/comment is very welcome.
Best regards, Tobias

I'm interested in this too! This upgrade is on my to-do list and I'm a bit hesitant.
Thanks, Bryan

It should be, as long as you follow the guide precisely. I didn't have problems while upgrading many customer clusters (otherwise they would have been solved by now anyway ;) ). Obviously we only install the minimum needed set of packages for a given cluster, so if you have pulled in many non-Qlustar related packages from base Ubuntu, you might run into problems on that side. But these should be rather minor and only concern the corresponding package(s).

Better to wait for calculations to finish. All nodes will need a reboot anyway.

Hi Roland,
thank you for the answer and encouraging words; than I'll announce a maintenance for this and try it. I hope, we don't have incompatible packages/setups.
@Bryan: Sounds good to hear that I am not the only one who still didn't upgrade; I'll keep you informed on my experiences. But as I mentioned, due to our long run times of cluster-jobs it will take some time.
Best regards,
Tobias
