you're absolutely right. We have added a note about this now.

These scripts are part of the image module packages. They are not meant for customization. If changes are necessary (only(!!!) for temporary bug fixes), you can edit them using the following command on the head-node:
$ qlustar-image-edit -s <image name>
The content of the image is then placed into the dir /var/lib/qlustar/images/<image name>/image.dir and editable from there. If you exit the shell started by the above command, the squashfs image is regenerated with the changes made.
Important:
1) We will not be able to assist in debugging any issues that are a result of editing the image. This is not a supported customization method. 2) If you need to edit something to fix a bug please post the needed changes. 3) Any changes made will be overwritten when the image is regenerated during a package upgrade.
