Hello List,
next question: how is slurm.conf generated? On my fresh installation, slurmctld won't start, and there are no NodeName entries in slurm.conf except for "DEFAULT". I've added a dummy node via qluman in order to test general slurm functionality, but it doesn't appear in slurm.conf.
Am I missing something? Do I need to boot the node in order for it to appear in the config?
Thanks,
A.

a working slurm setup, that will allow slurmctld to start, exists after installation only if the install option 'virtual demo cluster' has been selected. In that case, some demo VM nodes will be created and added to slurm within a pre-defined slurm node group and partition (demo).
Without this option, at the beginning you don't have any compute nodes, so you need to create some (https://docs.qlustar.com/en-US/Qlustar_Cluster_OS/10.0/html-single/QluMan_Gu...) and configure slurm (https://docs.qlustar.com/en-US/Qlustar_Cluster_OS/10.0/html-single/QluMan_Gu...) within QluMan. At the minimum, you'll have to create a slurm node group and partition and assign it to your node(s).
Best,
Roland
Hi Roland,
and configure slurm (https://docs.qlustar.com/en-US/Qlustar_Cluster_OS/10.0/html-single/QluMan_Gu...) within QluMan. At the minimum, you'll have to create a slurm node group and partition and assign it to your node(s).
I see. Unfortunately, the Slurm menu in Qluman is disabled while slurmctlcd is down. Instead, I've added a NodeName line by hand. This enables slurmctld to start, so I could run tests and proceed with the setup. I can now run sinfo from one of our opensuse machines. Next, I'll add a bunch of compute nodes, and configure autofs, and then we can begin to properly test Qlustar.
Have a nice Weekend,
A.

Ah, right, that is definitely sub-optimal. We're already in the process of fixing this.

Well done and good luck :)
A> Have a nice Weekend,
Thanks, I did. Hope you did too.
